I just finished reading "Pushing Up Daisies" by Rosemary Harris this weekend. It was a mystery which I usually don't care for but it appeared on the NPR shelf at our library, and once I read the flap I couldn't resist.
The story is set in the town of Springfield, Connecticut which made it even more interesting to have the local story connection. The main character, Paula Holliday starts a new career as a professional gardener. She undertakes the job to restore a historical garden in town. In the process of rejuvenating the garden she unearths a secret and mystery that changes the lives of many within the town of Springfield.
Harris does a wonderful job of developed her eccentric characters, and leaves you guessing throughout the story. The author is a Connecticut Master Gardener and doesn't skimp with the details regarding the garden restoration work or the details about herbs in the story.

Many thanks for the kind words. It means a lot to a new writer when someone takes a chance on a newbie. and I'm thrilled that you found me on the NPR shelf at your library. I've yet to hear the NPR piece.
Cheers,
Rosemary

PS Heading to your basil pesto recipe now..
I just finished "The Big Dirt Nap" this weekend and I will be on to your next book in the series. The books are a pleasure to read, hoping to have "Pushing Up Daisies" as a Book Club selection later this Fall.
All the best.
